Card has corner/surface/edge wear including a crease near the top and some surface wrinkles in that area. 100% original. Comes from a set of strip cards produced by an unknown manufacturer. Printed on a thick, creamy stock and usually found in a sepia tone. This is the more difficult to find green variation and the larger version measuring 2 7/8 X 3 13/16 inches. Dykes played 22 seasons in the Major Leagues from 1918 to 1939, 15 for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1918 to 1932 and 7 for the Chicago White Sox from 1933 to 1939. He was a Player/Manager for the White Sox 6 out of 7 seasons, and also managed them from 1940 to 1946 after retiring as a player. Dykes had other managerial stints in the 1950's and 1960's with the Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. Overall, a solid low-grade example for your collection from an interesting and tough to complete pre-war set.
