Description
Card has corner/edge/surface wear, but no creases! The color/focus on the front are strong and the printing on the back is dark. The centering is average for the set. Charles Frederick "Red" Lucas played 15 seasons in the Major Leagues between 1923 and 1938 with the New York Giants, Boston Braves, Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates. Nicknamed the "Nashville Narcissus" by a reporter when he was playing in Cincinnati, Lucas was known for his pinpoint control. Out of his 302 career starts, Lucas threw 204 complete games. In 1933, he walked just 18 batters in nearly 220 innings! Lucas also was handy with a bat and finished his career with .281 average. Overall, a solid mid to lower grade example that presents well from an interesting pre-war set.
