Description
No creases! Has surface/edge/corner wear as well as vibrant color and strong focus/centering for set. Smalley played 11 seasons in the Major Leagues starting with his Rookie year in 1948 until 1958. He lost his starting Shortstop job with the Cubs after the 1953 season to a young Rookie named Ernie Banks and was traded to the Milwaukee Braves for the start of the 1954 season before playing the last 4 seasons of his career with the Philadelphia Phillies. Smalley is the Father of Roy Smalley III, who played in the Majors for 13 years between 1975 and 1987. He also is the Brother-in-Law of longtime Major League Manager Gene Mauch. Overall, a solid lower grade example for your collection. You will receive a partial refund for shipping costs after payment is made when multiple auctions are won within the same week.
