1921 Original News Service Photograph Babe Ruth Type 1 Authentic
Description
Circa 1921 original photograph of Babe Ruth at the plate in a swing-through pose of what appears to be a home run. Encapsulated and certified by PSA/DNA as an original Type I photograph. This is a superb original photograph of Ruth from 1921, his second year with the New York Yankees, a season in which he would smash 59 Homers and drive in 168 Runs. The reverse of the photo has an "Original International Newsreel" credit stamp, a pair of tape stains, and a few editorial notations. It is interesting to note that this particular image on the offered photo was used in the production of several of Ruth's cards most notably his 1929-1930 Rogers Peet, 1932 Sanella Margarine, and 1932 Astra cards. Photos used in the production of trading cards have become increasingly more popular and valuable over the past several years with Ruth being one of the most popular. The photo (8 x 10 inches), which has exceptional clarity, is missing three of the four corners and displays several unobtrusive small creases and tears. Technically in Fair condition overall but with far superior visual appeal. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
