1952 Topps #191 Yogi Berra SGC 3 New York Yankees HOF Catcher
Description
1952 Topps Yogi Berra, SGC 3. This is one of the more difficult cards in the 1952 Topps set to find in high-grade and, quite possibly, Yogi Berra's most important card. Berra's personality and charm often overshadowed just how great he was on the field. One of his most impressive statistics and perhaps the most telling is the fact that Berra received MVP votes in 15 different seasons. Berra, who led his Yankee team to 14 World Series appearances, established WS records in games (75), at-bats (259), hits (71), singles (63), doubles (10), games caught (63) including catching the only perfect game in WS history (thrown by Don Larsen in 1956). In another surprising statistic, Berra led the Yankees in RBI for seven consecutive seasons (1949-1955) despite playing with super sluggers Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle. This 15-time All-Star was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1972. Finding a well-centered example of this important Berra card is a real chore.
