1914 B18 Blanket Hank Gowdy Boston Braves White Infield Variation
Condition: MySlabs C (vg/ex)
Description
This comes from a set of 5 1/4" square flannels issued in 1914 (American Card Catalog designation is B18) as a promotional item for multiple popular tobacco products of the day. This particular flannel, typically referred to as blankets, features catcher Harry Morgan "Hank" Gowdy of the National League's Boston Braves. The "Miracle Braves" as they are known somehow managed to win the 1914 World Series, sweeping the heavily favored reigning World Champion Philadelphia Athletics of the American League in 4 games. The flannel is in very solid condition overall with vibrant color and strong centering as well as decent corners/edges and minimal evidence of prior folds. The major condition issue is the staining front and back that is very common with the lighter colored flannels like this one since they were packaged directly with the tobacco product. The flannel will be shipped securely in a protective sleeve and toploader. You will receive a partial refund for shipping costs after payment is made either when multiple auctions are won within the same week or when multiple purchases occur within the same 24-hour period.
