Up for auction/sale is an original 1937 Wills’s Cigarette card (#41) entitled "Arriving at Olympia, 1935." This card was issued as part of the "Our King and Queen" series of 50 by W.D. & H.O. Wills to commemorate the coronation of King George VI. The Story & History: The card depicts a 9-year-old Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) and her sister, Princess Margaret, arriving at the Olympia for the Royal Tournament on May 15, 1935. They were accompanied by their parents, then the Duke and Duchess of York. This image captures the young royal family just one year before the abdication crisis would change their lives forever, placing Elizabeth first in the line of succession. Trivia & Family Ties: Royal Company: The card notes that the Princesses watched the performance alongside their cousins, including Fergus Bowes-Lyon and the Hon. Elizabeth and Margaret Elphinstone.
