Wix & Sons for their Kensitas brand as part of the prestigious "Builders of Empire" series. The History: Sir Ronald Ross (1857–1932) was a British medical doctor who made one of the most significant breakthroughs in human history. While serving in the Indian Medical Service, Ross became obsessed with the "scourge of malaria". On August 20, 1897, he proved that malaria was transmitted to humans through the bite of a mosquito. This discovery fundamentally changed global health and earned him the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1902. The card highlights how his work allowed for the development of colonial areas that were previously "closed" due to the deadly disease.
