1931-36 RPPC Real Photo Postcard “Ripper” Collins Cardinals
Condition: MySlabs E (poor/fair)
Description
Pre-War Era Real Photo Postcards ("RPPC") featuring Major League Baseball players in uniform are extremely difficult to find. This example features James "Ripper" Collins, First Baseman and Right Fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals, in his Cardinals uniform making a play at First Base. Collins played at total of 9 seasons at the Major League level between 1931 and 1941 with the Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a 3x All-Star who won 2 World Series as a member of the fabled "Gas House Gang" Cardinals teams of that era. This postcard is not postally used but likely produced between 1931 and 1936, the years Collins played for the Cardinals. It has fantastic eye appeal and is in solid condition overall given its age and scarcity with no creases, pin holes, tears or writing. Please note the following regarding its condition: The front of the postcard has much of its original gloss, however the gloss is missing in several spots and there is significant surface wear. On the back, there is glue residue in multiple spots from when it likely was placed in an album and some paper loss as a result of its removal. This postcard is a must-have for any collector of vintage baseball memorabilia or true St. Louis Cardinals fan! It will be shipped securely with tracking in a sleeve and toploader. You will receive a partial refund for shipping costs after payment is made either when multiple auctions are won within the same week or when multiple purchases occur within the same 24-hour period.
