This is a true Gem Mint Donruss Rookie of CAL RIPKEN JR (1982). BGS 9.5. Anyone who collects cards knows that BGS and PSA are really the only 2 graders whose grades stand up. Other companies will grade a 10 but if you submit the same card to BGS or PSA, you are likely to get a 6, 7, or 8. So, for a true value, always buy BGS or PSA graded cards. Next, true collectors will know that BGS is THE TOUGHEST grade in the industry. Cards submitted to BGS have been resubmitted to PSA and realized a higher grade. Finally, a true Ripken collector will know that a Fleer Rookie is the hardest to find in Mint or Gem Mint condition--followed by the Donruss Rookie. The regular Topps and the Topps Traded, although more popular, are far easier to find in the Mint & Gem Mint grades. Just search online for the population reports. So, even though the regular Topps rookie in Gem Mint condition sells for $900 and the Traded card sells closer to $9,000, this card is harder to find. And, the values are starting to creep up.
